2. Make your homepage a signup screen, not a feed preview. Generic feeds are not compelling. You need some onboarding before you can show an interesting feed that makes people stick around. Every social network's home page is a simple sign up screen with no preview for this reason.

A few counter intuitive things we've learned building FC: 1. Make people sign up on mobile Push notifications and little red dots on the home screen are the lifeblood of social apps. Most users who sign up on web will simply forget to come back.

Portrait of Claudia Lisias, a 46-year-old government worker in northern Namibia. I initially went to get a camping permit, but the moment I walked in, I forgot all about my task. All I could see was this compelling scene, and I felt an irresistible urge to photograph her. At first glance, she appeared strict, but after I explained my intentions honestly, much to my relief, she laughed and said, 'No problem.' What followed was a heartwarming experience. We strolled through the office as Claudia gave me a full tour of the facilities, and of course, we ended up capturing some fascinating portraits together.

It fuels me when people dismiss what I'm working on. Just means there's an opportunity others don't see yet. Many dismissed when I joined Coinbase in 2014. Feel the same joining Farcaster in 2025 with opportunity cost of running my own business. Take big swings when you see it :)
