It's deeply ironic that crypto is so anti-marketing, yet 100% driven by marketing

Fomo/hype is the new age marketing, same as tokens/memecoins. And yes: it's fuckin ironic 🀣

I don't disagree with you but think this is not how to drive sustainable growth hence why we see a lot of hype > marketers feel great > metrics go up....but I haven't really solved any user problems and have burned all my cash and now after 2-3 months, 12 months if lucky our solution has died.

You don't burn too much cash on hype/fomo, but once you go that route it's hard to steer in any other direction. I agree, not something I love doing - but I understand the reason behind it. Also, during bull markets almost anything is hyped/fomo'd. Btw, there are very few cases of sustainable growth in crypto...

I guess that brings us back to @jhv original post then. Are we doing a great job in marketing to drive the industry? Or just appeasing the capped market we have today of casino players with short term hype tactics for a quick buck? Experimenting is great if that's where we are at but unsure I'm seeing many more experiments vs. optimising on the same tactics.

We could definitely be doing a better job and better investing in strong marketers And broader efforts to define and shape and overarching macro narrative like the industry had in 2021

What were these back in 2021 @jhv I wasn’t around. Do you have any thoughts on what these could be moving forward?

2021 narrative was around disrupting powerful intermediaries that exist in every industry from music to science to finance. It was a narrative that got a lot of people to be optimistic about the future, enabled by crypto. Meanwhile today, the narrative is just casino vibes and whatever other crazy nonsensical thing someone develops Imo need to get back to how crypto can improve lives and systems, not just make money
