My sister bought me a $60 shirt from my birthday. It's being shipped from Canada to Minnesota. Just received this from UPS. Are we sick of "winning" yet?

Just logged in to my UPS account directly and this is legit. No explanation how they calculated that fee though.

oh, now I see something I missed after my long post. She sent you a package direct from a company instead of mailing it herself?

It very likely includes tariff processing fees from UPS. I don’t know for sure but my cynic sense is going off

The tariffs for Canada are 25%. 60*0.25=15, so $75 total. UPS is demanding $76 more. Does UPS charge that much for service?

hmm, that seems weird. You can reject it and it'll be sent back. I lived in Canada ten years and I NEVER had anyone send me anything by UPS from another country as it was always expensive. I'm surprised that something that is $60 and a gift would have those fees. UPS makes you pay brokerage fees going the other direction. But if USPS and Canada Post was used and the item was worth less than $100 (from the US), nothing would be charged. If it was over $100, there were some fees from Canada Post, but nothing like the horrible UPS fees. If your sister sends you anything else, she should use Canada Post. Not that I know for sure how much it would charge you coming into the US now (maybe nothing?), but I'm pretty sure it would be much lower than UPS based on my Canadian experience in the opposite direction. But for so many years, anything under $850 was not charged (even sent from a business), so it's shocking that an individual sending you a gift would be taxed like that.

UPS needs to work on their emails, I’ve seen phishing emails that look less suspicious

If you can afford a 60 dollar shirt from Canada you can afford the 151 dollar shirt from Canada.
