My sister bought me a $60 shirt from my birthday. It's being shipped from Canada to Minnesota. Just received this from UPS. Are we sick of "winning" yet?

hmm, that seems weird. You can reject it and it'll be sent back. I lived in Canada ten years and I NEVER had anyone send me anything by UPS from another country as it was always expensive. I'm surprised that something that is $60 and a gift would have those fees. UPS makes you pay brokerage fees going the other direction. But if USPS and Canada Post was used and the item was worth less than $100 (from the US), nothing would be charged. If it was over $100, there were some fees from Canada Post, but nothing like the horrible UPS fees. If your sister sends you anything else, she should use Canada Post. Not that I know for sure how much it would charge you coming into the US now (maybe nothing?), but I'm pretty sure it would be much lower than UPS based on my Canadian experience in the opposite direction. But for so many years, anything under $850 was not charged (even sent from a business), so it's shocking that an individual sending you a gift would be taxed like that.

Yeah, this seems really high even with the tariffs. She ordered from the company directly and put my address in for shipping. There's no way this is normal or they will be out of business. I won't be in town when they make the delivery attempt, and I'm going to return to sender as soon as the UPS site lets me. Everyone loses with these mindless tariffs.
