The number of apps is going to increase 100-1000x over the next few years. 1. Seems like an index of big cloud platforms and NVIDIA is a good way to bet on this 2. In the same way creators have moved from text and image to video and D2C, would imagine a lot more creator-built software in form of games, interactive stories, etc.

Why do you think the number of apps is going to increase 100x-1000x? The population of humans on devices will only increase like 2x, tops? So 50x more apps per human? Maybe I don't understand your def of app?

Some are guessing that the genAI tools will allow people to make more apps that are personalized to them So more casual development (it may not look like traditional dev to users) instead waiting for a dev team to find a use case/business case I’m hesitant to believe since no-code tools had a similar vision

I think we agree. To me it depends on whether you consider a view eg Notion database or a Retool app an app. Most UX on the internet converges on one form factor people like the most. I’m long on AI creating new personalized views vs each influencer building their own app. But difference in semantics on view vs full application.

Agree it depends on semantics. The view sense was in the earliest Notion pitch and that has been fulfilled. genAI has an opportunity to speed the flow up which could lead to higher multiplies On the other hand, I don’t think downloadable app builders like Bubble have lived up to their valuation yet Excited to see how the open protocols play a part in this next stage https://notion.notion.site/Notion-Seed-Pitch-Deck-2013-26634e24c14543d7a1c72325bcb4d2df

Yes. If you consider an interactive URL an app, than 1000x for sure. Wasn't sure if Dan was talking about apps that require downloads. I think those will actually decrease.
