I have gotten DMs like this from multiple artists within the last week. We have a problem with the vibes here. Discuss

Been waiting for this to crop up. I think I know what the problem is but I don't have a way to really explain it using short form text input. But basically we need to recreate connections and form an organic web of support instead of expecting everyone to bootstrap themselves into this abrasive hype driven culture.

I had a similar issue the last time around which led to me dipping out. I'm learning. I'm growing. I am fucking unstoppable when I have conviction. I want to help people, as do you I feel, but we need to be VERY clear on things that are and are not conducive to delivering value TO artists.

The hype driving the build-as-devs culture is not entirely misplaced and it can be highly effective to attract a user base to launch. But artists have been gamed and extracted from since time. So let's fucking CHANGE that since we now apparently have the tools to do it for everybody else.

I'm feeling a concrete example of how this has impacted me personally, today, on warpcast. I see everybody else being welcomed in and shows of hospitality which feel increasingly transactional - but I struggle to get even a handful of likes from my following when posting genuinely and without a hint of hype.
