I have gotten DMs like this from multiple artists within the last week. We have a problem with the vibes here. Discuss

If you disagree, ask yourself if you've considered the outsider's perspective. I would love a nuanced discussion in here.

Channels originally did a good job of creating small spaces with their own context But the degen and farming has now spread even into those spaces. Do we need an auto-hide bot? Some norms around $degen-free channels?

i do agree it feels a bit overwhelming with the insane increase of DAU, mostly spam but also genuine people wanting to join into what once felt like a groupchat

nah he just didn't spend enough time trying to understand farcaster. it feels that way when you don't research, and although it's a hard task, you need to. spend time, cast, try it out, get into channels, read, ask other users, etc. the same for artists that never minted an NFT because it was too much info.

Agree - the default feeds arenโ€™t welcoming, even to people who are very comfortable w/ FC. Right now, i have to immediately dive into a channel or GC to make Warpcast enjoyable. Not terrible for a community of communities, but itโ€™s not obv. Long-term, customizable, shareable feeds could be key to solve this.

One approach would be highlighting new artists on specific channels - either via an AMA or a curated thread. Curation of connections will play a role as DAU scales. Akin to the Welcome post. A hype post beyond hey this is x you should follow them rather hey this x and here are 3 works I really like.

I think they would be better if they join channels that resonate with them, instead of scrolling in the home feed. If they are artist, maybe try recommending them some /art channels. @aaronrferguson.eth can you recommend channels for artists?

Been waiting for this to crop up. I think I know what the problem is but I don't have a way to really explain it using short form text input. But basically we need to recreate connections and form an organic web of support instead of expecting everyone to bootstrap themselves into this abrasive hype driven culture.

I think the unique part of Farcaster is that you can spin up new Hubs & create a client that is tailored for a different audience/vibe. In my opinion, I see this as an opportunity for farcaster clients to attract new users for a different UX. Hopefully, there are vibes here https://www.farcaster.xyz/apps that can help

I'm probably one of those people. It's weird. I never used Twitter, and I don't understand what I'm doing here and if I'm doing it right. I also don't understand why I am getting followers if I am not casting anything useful

In my experience so far it feels like people already are starting to have their groove, their circles, etc. which can be intimidating. Since Farcaster is still a growing platform I feel like communities within FC should make it a bigger effort to welcome newcomers. Really make people FEEL welcome to this platform.

The hype+FOMO wave has definitely hit FC hard in the past couple weeks, and it does sort of create that sense. The only thing I can think of that would counteract the noise is some OG Farcaster participation threadsโ€”encouraging discussions, prompting people with open-ended questions, etc.

Frames/degen take up the airwaves. Took me a while to catch up and I've been active. Surely overwhelming for new folks. Art hasn't secured a trench yet regardless. Imo a culture of sharing, curation, and discussion would be ideal > shilling. Artists need to drive that though. CT trained artists to fish for curation.

I would encourage them to spend a week in channels that are cultivated and of interest to them. Outside of the noise there are great sub communities forming that with some diverse voices will make them great places to be. 1/x

i was an outsider almost for 10 months. they need to interact genuinely even it means a monologue. it is up to them to curate their graph. they're lucky to have onboarded after the channel implementation. it is easier now. also, de facto Twitter circles are more cultish.
