funnily enough, I have always felt the opposite. sci-fi seems more about wild ideas and future possibilities than actual history to me. It’s more about imagining what could be than looking back at what’s already happened

You are right, I also discovered Lord of the rings lore was taken from Bible too, so many examples of sci-fi and fantasies being taken from historical books.

Historical events, maybe not, i’d just say science generally and imagination. If you can make an argument for several sci fi that falls into this category, then maybe
