People that define themselves by their work end up being extremely rigid in their thinking, proportional to how long they have been doing that. It is a "rut accelerator" since they become so emotionally invested in their work life. People with hobbies can let shit go, and move on.

I can't tell you how many young, talented devs I've had to coach out of "you are not your code" to head off some really toxic behaviors. Better definition of the non-work life works every time.

Hm I’m not sure I agree with the correlation I don’t like working with people who are just there to collect a paycheck But I respect a work life integration
