for home printers - no one cares about printing an odd doc enough to spend thousands of dollars on a printer (like they do on a phone, computer, or similar daily use devices), so you get what you pay for

additionally, analog is harder than digital

Why do you think the current ones don’t work? Is this ‘capitalism’ gone wrong problem?

I've given up on printer tech at this point. I use a typewriter now.
