forums! do u still use any forums regularly? i used to visit a bunch of art, music, and other forums but not much anymore ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ "When I want information, like the real stuff, I go to forums [...] there is just certain information that requires the dedication of adults who have specifically signed up to be in one kind of community." i feel like channels here are trying to reach something like this but imo wc channels are missing one crucial feature for this: chrono reply bumping as immediate visual feedback to let u know a conversation is happening within a channel cast (⌒_⌒;) https://aftermath.site/best-active-forums-internet-today

I don’t think we’ll ever get there with current cast storage model. I looked for a reply chain of mine the other day and while I found my responses, the person I talked to let their casts expire ;_;

I think the forum format is superior for asynchronous communication. (old) Reddit was really good at adapting that style for modern audiences. Every other platform today thinks we want the chat/messenger experience.

I look at old forums a TON, at least once a week or so, when looking up stuff for my work. Often they are like 15-20 years old 😆 But they can be a much more reliable source of info than other places. When there’s a group of people who are all knowledgeable about the same topic, they are VERY eager to hold each other accountable for accuracy, lol. So it’s like this amazing source of peer-reviewed info.

I love forums. I used to be on a lot of forums sinceI'm like 13 years old. Forums were like the best times. Peak internet for me tbh. I've been on so many forums and I really miss them. Nowadays they are just not it's just not the same anymore.

i always love finding forum posts b/c they tend to be useful when i'm looking for info on something very specific, but my tastes // interests // hobbies // etc have always been a bit too, um, diverse or scattershot (depending on perspective, cough) for me to regularly frequent... but i do feel & have always felt they are important.

Yep, when we have a specific topic, forum is a good place to talk about the topic. Unfortunately, because of strict content review and the impact of video and short blog platforms, forums in China have declined, a lot of famous forums have been closed. In current, only some niche topics are still active in forums, like hobby, niche film, subculture, technology and sex etc.😵 😵
