Do we *really* think $TRUMP will bring in the elusive ~mass adoption~? Crypto to me right now feels like when I first tried to enter in early 2021. It was bro-y, right-leaning (which isn't bad in itself of course, but i couldn't relate), and there were very few women and non-cis folk. I left after a week and didn't come back for a YEAR because I didn't see myself reflected in its communities. We need to ask ourselves *who* is being onboarded into the space with $TRUMP, and also be aware that Trump's current clout/influence over the crypto sphere is veering on culty and authoritarian. He will likely only push and validate the projects that benefit him and his inner circle - something that is not decentralised in approach *at all*. [CONTINUED]

this is why i've been pretty much offboarding since the summer. all the developments in the space were all pointing to this and ppl no longer seem interested in solving the bigger issues that got me into it in the first place. we've raced to the bottom. there are some things i'm still interested in but they will probably be starved out eventually over the next few years

really resonate with this. i've been thinking about doing the same, but then at the same time i think: if *everyone* like me leaves crypto then it really would be a monolithic, non-diverse space. someone should surely stick around to be a representative of a different kind of demographic? and then i switch back again and think 'is that really my responsibility?' loool so very much conflicted

for a while i believed that the tech was neutral and it just needed good ppl utilizing it to offset the bad ppl and if the good left, it would all be bad (judgment of good/bad is murky tho. ie. rich ppl extracting poorer ppl = bad. a person in an impoverished country profiting off memecoins as a global equalizer = good?) but now i feel like the more time i spend in it, the more i put my soul at risk of corruption. just by trying to stay in the first category here in this skeet, i risk #3 more and more https://bsky.app/profile/thecontentflywheel.bsky.social/post/3lg6ovrr6dc2v and the world is bigger than this. where the things i want to grow can grow better

i’ve been thinking the same on your last point. if the core value of what i cherish here is β€˜decentralisation’, yes the blockchain was made for that, but if people are consistently using it in a way i feel sick with, there are other means of decentralising that can be expanded upon. i just don’t know what the best alternative is yet!
