Changing an established system from within is very hard. Some have achieved it, not many. But it is good experience to work within it for a while, to learn how it operates. Then you have the knowledge you need to change it from the outside. Just an observation from too many years of activism and campaigning.

I always enjoy your articles. You are saying things that need to be said, and presenting well-constructed arguments. Ignoring them is not good for anyone’s bags.

Appalling. Makes me ashamed to be British, the way that Thatcher and Bojo did

It looks as though you did not update the service definition. Run command nano /lib/systemd/system/ceremonyclient.service then check the line beginning ExecStart. It should look like this: ExecStart=/root/ceremonyclient/node/node-2.0.0.2-linux-amd64. Then run systemctl daemon-reload and restart the service

I have the same experience as you when my people came to the streets to demand their social rights and the dictator government suppressed them with violence and bullets. When I showed the videos and photos to some people, the answer I got was that it was a lie! A sleeping person can be woken up, but someone who has put himself to sleep can never be woken up

Thanks! I was actually a subscriber of yours from the early days, but stupidly allowed the hypersub to expire. Love reading your newsletter, always at the leading edge, lots of fascinating ideas

Yes they should be fine. Just don't overwater. On the other hand don't let the soil dry out completely

I have trouble believing Donald Trump’s crypto pandering: The most consequential bull markets for NFTs and crypto-banking, as well as the most consequential regulatory legitimizing— happened under Joe Biden How reliable have Trump’s promises been? Trump promised border security and tanked Biden’s border bill for political reasons Trump promised global security and ended Obama’s Iran deal to disable their nuclear aspirations— for political reasons Trump promised fiscal responsibility and exploded the deficit beyond any predecessor Trump promised COVID19 would disappear—and then led the richest nation on Earth to a COVID-19 death rate not 1,000%, not 2,000%, not 3,000%— but more than 4,000% that of the poorest countries on Earth and more than ten times higher than Japan and South Korea whose soil we actually died on to establish their prosperity. Trump’s promises are an outcome contraindication, not an indicator.

This week, Q Inc has changed course with speaking with investors. Given I receive a lot of cold opens from investors on Farcaster, I would like to share that change with everyone publicly, and why. Moving forward, we refuse to even begin conversations with funds who have ever (or intend to) engaged in token warrants. It is clear our values and beliefs are diametrically opposed, and this is a far easier filter to save ourselves the time. It has been a long path to fundraising principally because we are operating from a perspective that as a company collaborating on a fair launched project, we can not and will not do token warrants. Despite being upfront about this, this topic has resulted in a lot of time wasted in talking with crypto funds, because they do not believe equity has a path to return for them, and ultimately decline. This is very telling because if they don't believe the company will be successful what use are the tokens, unless...?

What do you think of attempts to finish it by recycling Rosamunde? I am inclined to think of it as complete as it stands.

As I grow older I find great solace in Beethoven's quartets, especially the late quartets, and great joy in the piano sonatas

A really interesting list. I will try to read all of them. I recently bought Filterworld and Techno Feudalism but haven't read them yet. Also the music- the slow movement of Beethoven 7 and Schubert's Unfinished were amongst the earliest classical music that I fell in love with.

The Daily Telegraph in the UK was publishing lazy stereotypes like this in the 1970s. Depressing to see the NYT carrying on the tradition

Gm VIPs. Currently reading Filterworld by Kyle Chayka. If you too wonder why all those coffee shops look the same no matter which part of the world you go to and culture has less depth, this is for you.

Now this was not estranged labor to write, but actual fun. A hot take from SQD CEO @dzlzv on why you might want to re-think building an LLM when you haven't even figured out data acces... And a little Kafka reference (the author, not the streaming) https://blog.sqd.dev/data-is-not-the-new-oil/
