I often think about working within systems vs outside of them, I wonder if on a long enough time horizon all outsiders are ineffective

Changing an established system from within is very hard. Some have achieved it, not many. But it is good experience to work within it for a while, to learn how it operates.  Then you have the knowledge you need to change it from the outside.  Just an observation from too many years of activism and campaigning.
