Please yes. It never made any sense. Plus to export in certain formats (like one of the most used for web, gif) you have to go through media encoder, aggravating the experience even more.

Eh gif is a really old, shitty format imo. Wait til OP uses bodymovin in after effects and how shitty that UI is on top of that

Always used ME for gifs, easier for me than installing plugins on AE. What do you use for web export?

Render out of AE as pro res, import to photoshop and export for web as a gif from there? Otherwise just mp4 for the most part. Some people swear by gifgun but honestly I’ve found that to be buggy as hell.
