Iā€™m very supportive of research aimed at increasing the lifespan and quality of life of human beings but I do not think that the goal should be to ā€œNot Dieā€ as Bryan Johnson is proposing and literally pursue immortality. In Greek mythology not being able to die is a recurrent theme among individuals who were cursed. The reason is that people only really have the spiritual stamina to go through a normal lifespan. Imagine how thousands of years of life would weary a personā€™s spirit. Dying is of course an intimidating thought but this is why all the spiritual and religious traditions of mankind have sought to make people reflect on mortality as a means of preparing and overcoming it. You can and should meditate, pray, or do whatever else is recommended and that will give you the strength to have equanimity and peace regarding life and death. Life extension research is still good because itā€™ll likely shed light on other advances in medical science that will be useful for keeping people healthy.

Everlasting and great topic! In Greek mythology gods are immortal as they consume ambrosia (there are also half-gods (children of ppl and gods, btw those guys remind part of Christian symbols like returning from Hades) and mortal people, who are just going to Hades with one way ticket if they had a coin with them put under their tongue during funeral). So as for immortality - I believe itā€™s still unreal idea. Biologically - maybe, one day, in some thousands-millions of year, but even if people gonna achieve it - itā€™s still impossible to ā€œsurviveā€ (being immortal) if we place our body somewhere in the sun surface orrrā€¦ inside a black hole. I mean, I have no idea how we can save our flesh in such environment šŸ˜….
