i'm not collecting a lot on zora. it's not bc i don't like things or that it's cost prohibitive. one reason is that my contribution doesn't feel impactful. a small trade generates a couple pennies for the creator. mints were not expected to return, but at least the creator got a couple bucks.

I wonder if this is bc the impact on the price of the coin is too abstract or theoretical (i.e., creator has to sell coins to realize appreciation)... Would it make a difference if the transaction fee was higher earlier on, more like the old collector fee?

Definitely - I'd say the entire experience is abstract from both the collector and creator perspective*. That behavior is completely distorted by airdrop farming makes it even harder to decipher meaning. Hmm are you suggesting a higher fee while the price is low? Or when the token is newer? *This isn't made any easier with all the different types of content. I am explicitly publishing art, and my view of that is long-term. Others publish ephemeral memes. Others launched projects or marketing for projects.

The collector fee idea is super half baked, but I was thinking you just tack that on alongside the coin purchase... Maybe it could also serve as a way to provide an NFT (or similar collectible) as a symbol of their coin purchase - something they can share on social, on their profile, etc. Shooting from the hip...
