So I went to the AOC / Bernie rally in my area, and listened to Alexandria (briefly, but sincerely) criticize the genocide of Palestinians, call out APAC-funded politicians and (not in so many words) call for a shift away from US hegemony and imperialism... Her class politics were based, her political line was accessible, and her political skill was on show... Idk if I'd back or vote for this duo (especially if they're toeing the Dem party line).. But I've got less reason these days to take issues with their politics. It seems they've made the changes which progressives are demanding. ...So I gotta wonder, why are people still treating them as if they're refusing to acknowledge the genocide and the failure of democrats to represent the working class? Honest question. Are people just not listening to them? Do you not trust them at their word? For those in the US: What sort of left coalition would you actually back? (just seeking perspective here; all answers welcomed)

happy to hear it, it's news to me, last i was aware Bernie was still saying "Israel has a right to defend itself" but there's maybe nobody id trust more than you if you say it sounds like they are on track now

I just want them to focus on the house and the senate, ideally with a new congressional focused party. Third party presidency is not super likely and not as important especially if the executive branch can be reined in by the legislative. So I trust that they are being honest, but they will be toothless without a rock solid strategy.

A separate question I have is what’s the statute of limitations on what happened in β€˜16? Are we going to just roll over and let Vance have 8 years because people are still mad at the Dems?

Idk I need to tune in too, I haven't listened to anything in awhile much less been to a rally. I have zero faith in the Dem Party to do anything but war crimes... But there is an argument for supporting progressives within the party anyway. An argument I should at least be willing to engage in.

Changing their tune *after* the utter destruction of Gaza is kind of a moot point, no? This book is on my list: 'One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This' Although I'm ML, im not really against a Bernie/AOC ticket. We're never going to get a perfect candidate. It's better than nothing. At least they have working class talking points.

My problem with them is that they rolled over to Dems on the genocide issue when it mattered way more. Genocide continues but there's less chance to change anything about it now. Secondly, they may be slightly and ever-so-briefly critical of Israel in the non-televized parts of their rallies, but on every national stage, they're still both-siding the issue. If the most accessible and arguably least imperialist part of Dem party can't speak the truth openly, we can't expect the rest of the party to ever move towards that direction.
