just had a strange aha moment. Most discovery feeds are a anchored on “recency”, which is a shame because so much good historical content exists. Is YouTube the only social that has discovery supporting non-recent content?

For Startupy beta the recency is recent curations (kinda like folklore drip) which could be historical e.g. the first post I curated was from 2016. https://jods.mitpress.mit.edu/pub/design-as-participation/release/1 The focus seems to be really orienting insight discovery around associations and/or serendipity. @sari

agreed! most apps which tackle discovery would do well to support multiple modes, recency being one, relational another. i imagine the tricky part is discerning between information which is evergreen and time specific

this is a major area where farcaster can get it right… give casters the ability to have a curated profile, to prioritize the most relevant (most important) content - not the most recent…
