the best thing about traveling to another country is you can be a completely different person with a different outlook on life, one that's not scarred by your current environment. trying to figure out how to do this at home.

We define our "identity" by how ppl react to us. In a new environment we can shed all the pre-existing expectations of our surroundings and try new things to see how it fits as an "identity". At home you're trapped by the preexisting expectations of the familiar. Maybe meeting new ppl and trying new things, even at home, is the key? Don't just follow the same old ruts.

Carrying long conversations with strangers or showing up to events where I don’t know anybody tends to do this for me

i had this same thought and opportunity to 'reinvent myself' years ago when i moved to a new city and state for a job by myself with no friends and family around. It ended up working out great for me as i ended up marrying the person who brought me back for my initial interview. that said, i wonder how my life would be different if i would've been surrounded by friends and family

early rise, focus on yourself (low/no screentime) for the first few hours. long lunch doing the same, and a quick nap. feels like you have two days in one reset by the nap. the key is changing habits to make room for this imo. works wonders for keeping outlook fresh.
