question for the overthinkers: what’s something that has helped you while you’re in a constant state of overthinking? genuinely struggling atm and could use something more than “don’t think so much” or “stop overthinking and just do it” as advice.

probably an annoying answer, but the only thing that seems to really help for me is observing the mental pattern and figuring out what fear is driving it. then dealing with that fear. it’s often along the lines of trying to predict catastrophes and then preemptively dealing with them

i’ve done the former i.e. observing what is driving it, but the latter - dealing with that fear, i just don’t know how? like do i just feel it and tell myself that’s all it is, fear, and not let it get to me bc it’s not reality? (asking out loud, you totally don’t have to answer)

that’s the tough part for sure!! sometimes i’ve had luck writing out all fear in the most ridiculous and extreme way possible, trying to get out all the worst things that could possibly happen, until it just seems funny (then i burn it) lately i’ve been using chatgpt and emdr. so much of the fear is tied to trauma, and it’s no small feat to work through it sometimes some people seem to let go of things just with breathing and awareness but that doesn’t seem to be enough for me i wrote about my process here: https://x.com/marlo_here/status/1870971864744689793 i hope you are able to find some peace! 🤍🤍🤍
