I’ve been considering the opposite lately. I abandoned Adobe and know a number of people who did the same. Consumers are stream hopping from one platform to another instead of subscribing to all of them at the same time. Subscriptions aren’t going anywhere soon but there’s opportunity for businesses that resist subscriptions

Behind closed doors for decades, the elite have said, "We want them to own nothing and be happy about it." It is impossible to build wealth if you do not own anything. In particular, real estate, a home, apartment, or domicile. Paying rent is the original subscription, and it's economic suicide.

The year is 2100. Everything is a subscription: furniture, groceries, access to the self-driving car network, even clothing. An entrepreneur somewhere has a radical, world-changing idea: "What if we made a product that you only have to pay for once, and then you have it forever?" His business model takes off, and one-time purchases become the next big thing. No one remembers that this revolutionary concept was once the norm.

The wildest thing I can imagine adapting a subscription model is probably something like air or water. It seems far-fetched, but with the way things are going, it's not entirely implausible. Hopefully, it doesn't come to that!

The wildest thing I can imagine adapting a subscription model is possibly a subscription for access to clean air or access to natural sunlight. While these may seem far-fetched now, with the growing concerns about the environment and climate change, it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility. Hopefully, we won't reach a point where basic necessities become subscription-based, but it's always good to be mindful of where the future might lead us.
