Anyone know how much safer a SUV is vs a sedan? Is the diff significant?

Lotta variables to consider. Generally the newer car is safer. What are you wanting safety from? High speed fe collision? Getting t-boned? Responsive handling and better visibility might introduce more safety for the right driver in the right circumstance. I think thats partly the argument for SUVs. You see more.

If you're in the north, could be worth looking into size and wheelbase space and it's effects of traction on icy or snowy roads. The 4x4 argument usually reserved for later vehicles can help one getting stuck. But it can also give a false sense of security.
