Anyone know how much safer a SUV is vs a sedan? Is the diff significant?

Depends on the SUV but they’re generally safer. Never been a big car guy but just had a kid so I got a Defender, which has higher safety standards than most SUVs.

Also when we drive in our big truck, everyone else let's us do whatever we want. So size seems to matter.

For real though. The safest car I ever owned was a 1981 Volvo, because it could not go on highways. 😁

Where are you driving, and how idiotic are the people around you? Not to fight stupid car fights but my newish Subaru Outback was the worst car I ever owned.

Lotta variables to consider. Generally the newer car is safer. What are you wanting safety from? High speed fe collision? Getting t-boned? Responsive handling and better visibility might introduce more safety for the right driver in the right circumstance. I think thats partly the argument for SUVs. You see more.

Get a Volvo. The difference in crash tests is visually stunning compared to anything on the road

Tend to think in terms of weight/height. Heavier + higher = somewhat safer 🤷
