Especially if using public transit. Without the automatic routing, there's too much cognitive load in trying to plan around a bus time table, and nagging anxiety that you maybe got it wrong.

I remember when I was a kid we had to pick up maps from AAA and stop at gas stations to ask for directions. Living as an adult in the current year is a blessing. The parabolical advancement of technology is under appreciated.

Was a pain but in a good way. Gas station directions.. printed out Mapquest or small atlas in the glovebox lol. Had so much fun back in late 90s early 2000s ..driving around the country getting lost, visiting friends pre-smartphone.
