Browsing programmatic IPFS solutions... Pretty fed up with the steep pricing curve that Pinata offers NFT.storage is great, however their API is under maintenance web3.storage looks great so far Are there any other solutions out there that are worth investigating?

What specific do you find expensive with Pinata?

I've also felt this, for smaller/hobby projects, $20/month in perpetuity is just too much if your project isn't generating income

Is it the file count limit or the 1GB storage that you feel hampers hobby projects?

depends on the project, both potentially. examples of things I've tried to do: - personal image gallery on my website, probably more likely to hit the 1gb limit first - small time NFT platform where people can create free open editions, assuming < 100 users but may hit either limit pretty quickly

if there was a tier that was <$5/mo with 10gb and 2k files that would probably be in budget for me!

What I find interesting about this is that A) you're not alone and B) that's outside the pricing of even non-web3 products. See Supabase for example. So it makes me wonder if there's less value placed on web3 services or if a different mental comparison is being made. Do you have an opinion on that?

possible that it's just file storage that's expensive. my mental comparison was for hosting/compute, where I don't expect to hit the free tier limits on Vercel/Supabase, but I haven't shopped around for file storage much
