Rather than creating an actual item, an object to hang on a wall, art aims to provoke thought and, most of all, emotion in the viewer. Look at this artwork by @singlezer0! What do you think about its meaning? How does it make you feel? Let's talk...

As with beauty, meaning is in the mind of the beholder; therefore, many and different takes occurred as it was expected. If @singlezer0 stumbles over this topic, we'd love to hear the creator's thoughts as well.

I love @singlezer0's work and he's a good person to chat with too! I think he's been inactive here for a bit which is a shame. To me, this particular piece illustrates the sacrifice many artists make to present the world with something interesting or beautiful (or both) to experience. That effort is sometimes not recognized, and sometimes is not able to be fully compensated either. But the drive to create and share is so compelling for many that they pursue it anyway despite the cost to them.

I saw this art long ago on objkt and felt in love totally! This is such agood image of what artists do. We are transforming our lives - minute by minute - into beauty. This is an exchange of us, temporary, for something that will live forever

To me it suggests that journey that we generally decline to take. We constantly want to do something else, be somewhere else, be someone else, and we want what we don't have, believing that this is the path to happiness. But there is nowhere to go, nothing else to do, and no one else to be; the only voyage we should take is the one within ourselves. Where there is nothing frightening, it's like an eruption of flowers if we have the guts to go inside and discover who we truly are. The external world is 'maya', an illusion, as the wise men said. The internal world is where the truth and the real beauty is. I'm wondering if the artist is reading this thread and will come to explain his vision.

The shift from melancholy/darkness to beauty leaves me with a sense of wonder, contrasting emotional depth with a surprising lightness. To me, the piece explores themes of transformation, resilience, and maybe finding beauty in pain. My favorite @singlezer0 piece ❤️

A bit disturbing. And then surprised. The man doesn’t look happy so there’s a feeling about suicidal thoughts. Then all of a sudden it’s like a magician pulling flowers out of his sleeve. I don’t know what to think of it tbh.

Sometimes, expressing a bitter or absurd subject directly reduces its bitterness, just as extreme pain can lead to numbness! 'Transforming tragedy into comedy!'

I think the work is a bit intimidating at first glance when you look at it, but in the end after seeing the flowers come out I thought "Damn, this piece is really great"

It makes me think about the fact that one day we will all return to the ground. Will all that is left of you be the flowers on your grave or will you leave a lasting impact on the world?

To my English eyes he looks like a member of the British royal family, one of whom was famously beheaded a very long time ago. Could this be the redheaded Prince Harry harking back to the demise of his ancestor Charles the First, and perhaps referring to the continued flowering of the royal line? A disclaimer here: I am no royalist. I think the UK should be a Republic. Discuss if you wish.

This is quite a surprise! I appreciate the discussion over this particular piece! As with so many of my self portraits, the intention when making it was very specific, but I always hope the themes are universal enough for anyone to find a connection. There’s not a wrong answer here. As an artist, particularly one who does self portraiture, putting yourself on display requires a good amount of courage and the ability to self deprecate. I put my image and art out in the world for consumption. Taking a bit of myself and handing it over to the viewer. 💐
