War, like a grater, tears off a person layer by layer: plans, memories, values, emotions, until only the basic settings remain: fight, freeze, run. And this happens to everyone around, so strong alliances fall apart, friendships crumble, relationships that seemed harmonious deteriorate. Run and freeze cannot coexist in this hell of survival.
War is a trauma that cannot be cured by sessions with a psychotherapist, because it is not about social constructs, it is about animal fear.
