Talking about our ideas in premature stages decreases their chance to turn into reality. I've learned this the hard way ngl

What is the context? Unable to say whether I agree or disagree! An idea always benefits from being exposed. It usually makes it better. Overly generic comment to contrast, as timing can be of the essence too.

Stephen King has a similar idea - iirc he says you should not share or even talk about your first draft, however on later drafts input is vital. A first draft is more than idea though, it’s a process of discovery which probably benefits from some isolation.

Agree, sharing too early requires too much imagination (typically) on the part of the receiver (producing the reasonable “oh, that will never work” response. Negative signal) Sharing too late robs you of the refinement from collective wisdom polishing, or metal grinding, the “thinking thing” for you. (+signal)

Definitely. Actually you'll need consistent input and fresh eyes after you pass a threshold in your project.

Nice! Yes...fresh eyes, but also, firm believer in not letting "group think" dilute a clear idea, if you can hold onto it. YES/AND 🙌 ... AND/YES.

Agreed! I'm not a big fan of group thinking actually; to me thinking is solitary. I believe in group discussions and suggestions, but those are like the "reading" part of the entire process 🫡

Totally, yes! Group think, is so not the same thing as deep creative generative work (almost always). "Brain Storming" is fallacy/BS. Long, slow, sustained, "other side of bordom barrier", hard-fun, deep thought! Groups to then clean that shit up for ya (verify/negate) but not like "invent it" for you. 🫡 🍌
