An idea always benefits from being exposed. It usually makes it better. Overly generic comment to contrast, as timing can be of the essence too.

Work on (GOF)AI, Agriculture, Biology, Energy, Robotics, Space---all topics climate-aware.

Apt comparison actually! A whole book can hinge on the plot—the idea.

And that’s perhaps clearer than my ramblings. Put another way, a seed idea in our head needs to sprout, then talking about it is the light it needs.

Stephen King has a similar idea - iirc he says you should not share or even talk about your first draft, however on later drafts input is vital. A first draft is more than idea though, it’s a process of discovery which probably benefits from some isolation.

Thanks. Then I kind of disagree :-) or at least many counter examples. An idea is really nothing, like the 1% next to 99% perspiration associated to Edison. A stolen idea is also nothing—Dali’s motto that great artists steal, cited by Jobs.
