What's the thrust "Irrational computing" all about?

It's actually the name of one of Ralf's pieces, but also applies to his methodology which is in applying non-conventional means to create (sculptural) computing and calculating machines, for example: mechanical computers made form wooden frames with servo motors and the use physical and chemical reactions.
