I want to get to know the bookish people here; how about an intro thread? What are your bookish interests? What kind of reader are you? (h/t @fabianx for the great question) https://warpcast.com/fabianx/0xfe1a9591

Hey I’m Picnic, co-host here along with the great and mighty @phil. I’m interested in great writing, doesn’t matter what it’s about. Writers like Steinbeck, Le Guin, Whitman, Mandelbrot, Woolf, Bradbury, Mantel, Alexander. When I read a great writer, I get obsessed. I want to read everything they’ve written.

And not just dead writers, though to be fair most of the writers I mentioned are dead Ok never mind all of the writers I mentioned are dead. I didn’t realize Mantel was 😭 I included her as a modern writer bc I’m *almost done* with the Wolf Hall trilogy, and it’s the most excellently written historical fiction

Do you have thoughts on why you would recommend Wolf Hall?

Hahaha, I totally understand! My best reads are also from dead writers... it's as if the dead know better how to touch us than the living, who may be too entrenched in immediate harsh reality. Who knows? 😜
