1/ Letโs Talk About Expectations in the DEGEN Community As we continue building DEGEN together, I think itโs important to address something fundamental: what we should expect from one another. Right now, DEGEN is one of the only platforms where someone can earn hundreds of dollars with almost no authentic engagementโjust by reposting low-effort or spammy content. Platforms like Google Ads or Twitter would never allow that kind of behavior to be monetized, and it raises an important question for us as a community: why should we?

I donโt envy you all at all. Iโve been fighting spam and slop since my first days as a mod on Farcaster and in my own channels. Every time I provide incentives, someone inauthentic shows up. I can manage it because my community is small. I canโt imagine how much work it is at scale. I just ask for clear rules. Tell us what not to do and the community will enforce it. We are really good at guidelines. When there are no true guidelines, we get 91% of active users with Spam labels. We have too many non native English speakers here. We canโt just say โbe authenticโ. We need concert examples of what is not kosher so they can learn. If they donโt learn, thatโs no longer on you.
