I may be the person whoβs most excited for Channel Memberships Hereβs whyπ Iβve long argued that the current iteration of channels feels more like topic tags than Communities. You choose a topic when casting and then your cast goes to people interested in that topic. Community is different. Community is a group of people organized around common goals. Layer on onchain and itβs: common goals + collective ownership! A big part of our vision is that every channel member is a member-owner with skin in the game. When you come to a channel community in a couple weeks youβll be prompted to buy a membership via Fan Tokens β which gives you access to the channel, partial ownership of it, AND shared participation in all rewards earned by the channel. This is the way.

seriously -- i had just created the /bronco channel bc there wasnt one...and /unfiltered is basically @sartocrates and me swearing at each other-- they will never really take off bc they wont be visible? or people will need fan tokens (now forced) that i dont have for these? im sorry...these need to be toggle on/off options -- or seriously, maybe just refund the $25 ... they are pointless to have at this point. i need to burn some sage as well...fml

So youβll have several options. 1. Invite only memberships 2. Invite everyone, but no control over spam, have to manually remove them 3. Token gate. Right now only FanTokens will work because Automod will stop working soon. 4. Other NFT gates if someone builds it.

right. it just seems like its going to be maximum effort and i just dont have the time. i guess i can leave them open and see what happens, but whatever. i mean, sure. maybe it will all be fine but for a 'decentralized' app it sure seems like we do not have any control over something we supposedly purchased. also, do we have to buy these every year? are channels a subscription and if so...where was that written bc i have never even seen that. (saw a few people asking about it the other day -- seems really dumb)

You will have to renew your channel yearly, just like storage. We do pay to play here. Literally.
