Bread making advice needed :) I’ve been learning how to bake bread with yeast this year. Often I find that my bread turns out quite dense instead of chewy and soft (see the sandwich bread photo below). Does anyone have any advice on how to improve homemade bread’s texture? Any tips and/or beginner friendly bread recipes would be much appreciated! :)

1. Get new yeast just in case 2. Proof in your oven and stick a thermometer in there to ensure it’s warm enough. A bowl of boiling water inside the oven should make it about the right temperature.

Ooh super helpful thank you! Will try and see if it rises better in the oven next time :)

Yeast are special little snowflakes. They have a very narrow temperature range where they are happy. And they are fragile. I’ve bought brand new yeast at Whole Foods that was DOA. You never know how it was transported before you bought it!
