Honestly, the new channel changes are genius. Thereโs a huge spam problem on Farcaster and a lot of it is from reply engagement farming and extremely low effort replies. The Farcaster team has now put the responsibility on us as channel host to filter our own spam. If our channels are full of spam itโs our fault because we invited the spammers. Donโt invite spammers into your channel. If your home feed is full of spam itโs because youโre following the wrong people. Unfollow them and use the button that says โshow fewer like thisโ on your home feed to clean it up. When channel changes go into effect, if a channel is full of spam, complain to the host and have them kick out the spammers, and if the host does nothing move on to another channel. If your own casts are getting spammed, mute and block all the spammers. In a few weeks the spam problem should be completely resolved. Right? Changing the way channels work is a fascinating experiment to force social behavior to change for the better.

Yup, exactly. Really excited to see if the algo gives us a greater bias towards channels we follow now, which would function like a curated list of content. This could create more opportunities for the trending timeline, which will have a more defined purpose. Lots of interesting changes in the upcoming update.

I hope it really highlights channels who are creating community! Fingers crossed all hosts lean in!

Yup, 100% There is a real opportunity for growth here if community owners take this seriously, innovate and expand. Similar to what happened with Discord. I'm bullish.
