does stoicism appeal to you as a woman? i often see men posting about it or engaging with it more than women, but have never taken the time (yet) to reflect on why that may be.

When I’m stoic I’m called cold, emotionless, or get accused of having testing bitch face. The same way confidence and leadership can be seen as being bossy. Hate this shit.

Same. I feel like being naturally stoic in nature is a detriment, esp. when you're a woman. I think in part because people expect you to behave more outwardly emotional. Resting bitch face, stuck up, cold, etc. yep. heard it all. πŸ˜† How many times have I heard a guy call out to me in the street "smile! it's not so bad." Really? This is with my neutral expression. I have to plaster a slight smile on my face when I'm alone so people don't think I'm pissed off. I'm like an owl. πŸ˜‚

The double standard women are subjected to in really insane. Taylor Swift's "The Man" is so great at calling out much of the nonsense. btw, "testing bitch face" kinda tickled me for some reason...

Wear it and own it. The best manager I ever had was accused of the same. It made me uncomfortable when I first met her, but it gave me respect for her far more than anyone else I ever met. She set the course for where I am today. Don't let it keep you from being yourself.
