I’m Legal Counsel there and can attest: the team is ambitious; the work is exciting; the product is beautiful; and the vibes are impeccable.

IIUYC: The law treats sweepstakes, lotteries and contests differently. To do a random drawing, one must negate consideration so as to avoid being a lottery: thus the fine print. see e.g. https://www.olshanlaw.com/sweepstakes-law-basics

(cont.) Everyone agrees that lawmakers need to get on this fast, setting up rules that weigh the pros and cons and keep privacy and legal worries in check.

5) "Safe Harbors for Conversations": We dove into how it’s now pretty standard for companies to record their meetings and use AI to whip up transcripts for more people to see. This could really bump up productivity, but it’s also stirring up some big legal questions.

Privacy is normal. Living in a surveillance state in which the government demands to watch everything we do with our money at all times without obtaining a warrant is NOT normal. Treating software developers who build privacy-preserving technology as criminals is reprehensible.

It’s best, imo, when it utilizes the hive mind; >ParentingHacks< mode. It’s worst when it’s saccharine or nihilistic. Posts about “how does one best X” are gold. “from the mouths of babes” / “i’m so tired; it’s all shit” are meh.

Bandit and Chili are great parenting models imho. Fun, but there are rules, and they’re not dopey. Sometimes I ask myself WWBD?

This is the golden age of crypto law. We get to debate new structures like DUNAs vs BORGs. The courts are confirming that we had Howey right all along. We’re ramping up impact litigation. We have all manner of novel and exciting issues to work out. Imagine doing anything else.

The CTA was found unconstitutional in a *very* limited ruling. See below and talk to your lawyer (which I am not) about compliance in light of recent events. https://www.cooley.com/news/insight/2024/2024-03-07-federal-district-court-rules-corporate-transparency-act-unconstitutional-but-law-remains-in-effect
