one of the most common mistakes that builders make is inventing new words to describe features in their product.

resist this urge at all costs.

very few products succeed in coining new verbs or nouns. it is an incredibly high bar.

corollary: you often must first build something complicated before you can create the simple version

My brain definitely works this way. Sometimes I need to more gardening and less architecting.

Sketching things and making it work is the first phase. 

Second is simplification to make room for the next phase of innovation.

Same goes for code. First make it work and then make it fast and simple. It's hard to understand the problem well enough to build something simple and efficient if you haven't managed to get the thing to work in any capacity first.

Sometimes simpler is better, less is more
