I am really struggling with moderation in the /books channel. Both @picnic and I spend a considerable amount of time hiding casts, but it is a losing battle against increasingly human AI. I am hesitant to add a fee because it feels important to keep /books a public space that is available to anyone. Suggestions?

I think you just need more mods tbh! Maybe you could add 3-4, each person gets a one day a week to hide spam. They can check twice a day in the morning and the night time, shouldn’t take any longer than 10-15min. I used to run a clubhouse club of 2.5k with around 5 mods. That felt manageable for us!

I worry it is a losing battle with how cheap and good text generation is becoming Scaling the # of humans feels like fighting an inexorable trend that won’t stop anytime soon

I think the question is whether spammers will pay the fee (some will, some won’t probs), and also whether the tools that currently exist are better than human moderators. Channel gating is new, so it’s worth experimenting with. It isn’t so bad to be around a few core people who rlly love /books! Just my 2c 📚
