Any thoughts on how this might be applied to help artists decide pricing for upcoming artworks/collections? I asked GPT for some thoughts about this, although I'm not sure the extent to which it's feasible for an independent artist to conduct a pricing survey

As someone who has done a few Van Westerndorp studies, I respectfully believe it’s midcurve for most founders Unless you’re making something pretty novel, you should probably index off competitors (since your users will too)

I am currently battling this and wondering if I should even continue. My material costs for things has gone up so much I have to raise prices every few months to maintain thin margins. This is 1000% more challenging in an inflation environment where some things are just out of control and official rates are sub 6%

If you’re sharing this with us you must have implemented the Van Westendorp model in your previous businesses and it worked. Seeing it is 4 years old, you still believe it’s applicable till today?

Thank you for the good information. Regarding product pricing, I understood that draft values need to be assumed using the Van Westendrop model and verified and final optimized through live testing. But doesn’t this value depend only on customers? For example, I think the determined price may be lower than the cost. In this case, wouldn't it be possible to determine the price as the product price?

Finally believe that you can benefit from using the Van Westendrop pricing technique as a tool to better understand pricing sensitivity or just something you’ve been on since👀

Won’t claim to be familiar with the article but is such a model really important for a founder? When all they need to do is just put a price that profits them on the “product”
