Farcaster's view on what's going to happen with Twitter now that Elon acquisition is almost finalized? Anyone expecting rapid product changes within the next 6-12 months?

My bold bet: he will immediately change the default from free to a subscription. This is the only true way to deal with bots, grow the business rapidly, and free culture from the editorial leverage of advertisers all at the same time.

Biggest shift will be culture. Elon can get the best engineers in the world to work with him. Mainly expect to ship waaaay faster, less spammy, go back to its roots.

I expect material changes. He wouldn't have acquired it to make some peripheral changes at the edges. Total transformation. What that looks like I'm still working on.

his main job is to cover $1B+ of new interest expenses, which means cutting capital expenditure (and staffing) expect cuts and optimising before rapid product changes, but then yes

Might see some have financial features, like that of Venmo (never used it but heard it’s nice)

Basic ml bot detection, badge them in the ui Remove bots ability to "like" so they don't mess with the algorithm Seek more options for add on services to monetize

Here are a couple of things I expect 1. Bots 🤖 (will whitelist by application, blacklist by default) 2. Revoke bans. (Ideally makes changes to quote tweets) 3. Will enable payments in whatever form. 4. Creators will be first set of folks that will benefit from payments 5. Will be able to do all of this with less

In that time, I think we’ll see more creator tools and monetization (subscriptions and paid virtual events), bot prevention initiatives, and maybe open-sourcing the algorithm. And at the company policy level, perhaps a different strategy to handle the censorship challenges Twitter has faced in the past.

Wouldn’t shock me to see a tiered structure at different price price points. He’s said he wants it to be a “town square” but hard for me to believe the actual #1 goal, at least initially, will be anything other than better monetizing the platform
