I've wondered about the same question more than a few times, Tim. The offset with an angle is easy to figure out, but the consistent accuracy is not. I wonder if there was an electronic typewriter that allowed you to specify those offsets/angles precisely. Will need to look it up and find out. I imagine there are some research papers out there that describe the process in detail to answer our question.

Can you imagine (and if yes, also explain), how he created the artwork? How did he create the slightly angled offset, but managed to keep a straight line on each side?
