Got a DEXA scan yesterday. Using chatgpt to walk me through the results and understand the different metrics is surprisingly very useful. (Highly recommend these scans to measure muscle and body fat changes over time).

DXA is great but prone to estimation errors… if you’re lean/athletic then it tends to overstate your body fat % ref: https://journals.lww.com/nsca-jscr/fulltext/2020/06000/body_composition_assessment_in_male_and_female.23.aspx

all that to say that there’s no point in doing quarterly dxa b/c it’s measurements have higher errors for individuals vs groups. unless … you’re on an epic journey losing >5kg fat every quarter. simpler methods help get a directional understanding of short-term progress/not. yearly dxa is enough
