AI's reshaping the internet's core. Edge computing, hyper-regionalization, and privacy concerns are forcing a complete rethink of network architecture. Cloudflare's betting on a "connectivity cloud" to bridge the gap. The future internet? It's local, fast, and regulated. Buckle up. Other things to look at is Tailscale, who literally state they are building a new Internet, through their encrypted overlay networks A return to hardware / bare metal. Heterogenous compute. It’s not quite optical networking but definitely a bunch of changes.
