i've done a complete 180 on this since starting fabric: v hard getting people to care about your product, even if its well executed. impossible if its a half-baked turd if you're gonna create something, respect the game and make it great taking too long? reduce scope not quality

Amen I think this is a zeitgeist shift. @hyper also had a similar cast recently re: YC propaganda about iteration Feels like an un/bundling cycle and we’re going back to the phase of beautiful, deliberate products that cut through the noise of crap from the move fast break things phase

Still think it is important to launch something small fast and get feedback from users. But we are seeing too much shipping and moving on to the next thing. Not enough iterating and improving

Ship it. But not public open desperate for anyone to care. Ship it half baked to a few. Keep opening up wider as you go. Maybe never open it up to 100%

I mean don't ship turds. You can be embarrassed, your product shouldn't be perfect, but also don't expect anyone to use what you've built if it's a literal turd.

Talked to a few very senior designers about this recently and they all agree that we are in a phase where craft matters. They don’t think it will be like this forever, but it’s the status quo rn

I’ve been working on essay on this. I agree with you…too many reasons to fit in short form, but the tldr is it diminishes your brand equity and decays your internal culture. Will ship the essay when it is great. :)

This is SO true. I am feeling this dilemma rn. Even though it's taking longer to push, but I am making sure whatever I am pushing, is of utmost quality so they expect more, and I, at the same time, have a standard to abide by. 500 $degen https://warpcast.com/tanishq/0xd4a6491c

Embarking on the Fabric journey sure flipped the script! Getting folks excited about your product is like finding a diamond in the rough. Remember, if you're gonna dive in, make a splash! And if it's dragging, trim the fat, not the flavor!
