this is a great question and something i think about often. i think the answer is: people want to give creators money and so we should let them... some hypersub podcast stats: - hyperactive: ~$700 - /cryptosapiens: ~$4.1k - /gmfarcaster: ~$8k - /manysuchcases: ~$8.8k

I subscribe to show support. And better usually it comes with some sort of extra benefit, even if it’s minor. Getting your name added to a wall of thanks, getting more access to the creator are things that come to mind.

do you ever optimize for that, or just allow it to happen? if I had to pay .005 or something for Many Such Cases I would, but I don't...interesting trade space between distribution and revenue

I often pay (and subscribe) for things that I want to exist in the future. It's easier for me to pay for a future podcast episode or article, compared to something that's already there. If it's there and I can somehow get access, well, that's it, I may be tempted to donate something as a sign of gratitude, but that's it. On the other hand, when I enjoy what someone created in the past, and I feel that the only way for them to keep creating it is to make it financially profitable, I'll subscribe.

this has always been the case on any platform not sure why this is a question. people want to pay creators that entertain them, that’s why we have streamers, youtubers and podcast hosts. if you’re interesting and people love your content, they’ll pay you to keep it up.

I need to get into more shows and podcasts, but I’ll share that I subscribe to /gmfarcaster because I like it and want to see it succeed. imho - paying a relatively small fee to support @nounishprof and @adrienne is giving back for my enjoyment that I receive from the show… that said, I still buy cd’s to support musicians, so I may not be the norm…

Interesting answer and appreciate the stats. I also think about this quite a lot not just pods but minting other stuff. it seems there is a pretty strong contingent for living an ‘onchain life.’ minting kind of everything to show that you were there and a history of what you’ve done in the space. Jonny, do you think that’s a big part of it?

Honestly, rewarding/paying creators is just another way of showing that you appreciate the good stuff they bring to you. More like tipping a singer at an alley but only that this is done on chain or slightly off chain… >consumer appreciation>rev generated> sometimes rev gets shared back to the community. It just happens that way lol
