Does staking from home make sense in 2024 as a rational action? Or is it more just a noble thing that enthusiasts can do for the network?

Hard to justify if you didn't have a lot of validators :/ You will be rewarded ~3.000$/year/validator. You need to take into account your time, your electricity, your internet connection, your hardware cost and the capital cost. I will personally shutdown my validator in a few weeks.

how much time do you spend on it? i spend about an hour every 2 or 3 months on mine. and how much is electricity costing you? it shouldn't cost anyone in the world more than like $5/month and that's at the high end and where will you put the capital instead?

Same here. When my drive fills up in a few months, I'm turning it off. Goodbye 2.5% APR & 39% (bad)luck

This is my thought process too. I’ll keep mine running, but as a new entrant in 2024 it feels like there would be little value to going down this path compared to alternatives.

What's your hardware setup? Would it be better ROI on ARM like Raspberry pi?
