alright… is business school actually worth it these days? are those mba degrees necessary or can experience and networking get you further? i can sense a divide here especially in this space.

its more for the networking imo I have an mba degree from a reputable university in my country, and thats what i got - the networks with people from various backgrounds which will open connections, and a bit of prestige when you flash your name card with an MBA in it 🤣

I would say any and all education is worth it in the long run the more you know right But for business knowing the right people and great execution is really all you need. I’m taking accounting classes rn but I don’t think I need a degree in business to find /success we have that here 🤝

My take on grad schools generally. If they will directly be required for your future career then they’re worth pursuing. Example - if I wanted to become a professor at a business school I would start with an mba > doctorate. Would give you the intimate experience to be a better professor. Beyond that… it’s highly dependent. Have an acquaintance who got his mba from Penn before going into finance and for him it was definitely worth the time invested.

Just my thoughts, might be right or wrong. Everyone is a bit different. I think it depends on what you want to do and the path you are willing to take. I dropped out of high school in year 10, got my GED, and then dropped out of college again. I’ve worked in a lot of startups and enterprise companies without one and I was fine. However, I had to learn a lot in the moment and I did a lot of self teaching before and after work, it was long hours. Also, I worked my way up from the bottom and dealt with a lot of rejection from companies for not having a degree. I later went back at 34 and got my MBA because I felt I was still missing some skills that would get me into an executive level role. I learned a bit from the MBA about planning and finance; it sharpened my skills. However, had I not done it, I was still able to learn a shit ton from just life experience. I later went back and got a MBA when I was 34 just

Having an MBA from a not well-known school, the networking was not great. For an elite school, it might be. It's all about the contacts and trust. As far as the education goes. Marketing, BLaw, Biz Communications and Operations mgmt were helpful, but Accounting, Finance, Economics could probably spend about a day on each and just hire a CFO when you need one. Software solves a lot of these things nowadays.

Depends. As a UX designer it helped me to fill some knowledge gaps and since I did it while working full time it didn't cost me any time. But you have to stay creative and not get sucked into corporate group think. It's more geared toward leading mature companies for sure.

Don't want to beat the same old drum but it has it's pros and cons. That being said, real work experience preps you to do anything but education helps you put a structure to it. But the best is the network you make in a business college because nowadays distribution matters most.
