What Ethereum conference has the most apps? Why are we not building more apps? We already have sub-cent transactions, why do we need to focus on infra right now? I feel like Iām slowly going insane

In apps, 80%+ of the difficulty is in figuring out which apps actually make sense to build. I think this is why a generalized pitch of "we need apps" gets applause from pragmatist types but ultimately leads to no action - if our vision for the world is "WE WANT STUFF HAPPENING ON OUR CHAIN!", that's very uninspiring. Meanwhile, specific categories of apps are starting to do well! Lots of progress in zk identity and zk social, all kinds of interesting stuff in info finance. I think if we want more apps, a more definite-optimist approach where we talk about specific types of apps and what kind of world they will lead to will be much more effective.

A lot of apps are already technically possible. Blockers are not on the technical side but on the cultural habits side, regulation side and political side. I don't mean illegal stuff like crime apps, but simply think about every day payment: in my country it's just a tax mess to have this, no one can reasonably pretend to be able to pay daily expenses with crypto. Think about apps for direct governance and using DAO like structure to manage non profit association: you can't, you have to stick to what form of government law allows (I only know about Wisconsin to allow DAOs). Buy a house, get married on chain? We have the tools, but no one would recognise that kind of proofs yet. Investment? Talk to my banker. Etc... We have the tools. We need the culture shift. A revolution in minds has to happen. I have no idea how it will happen and when, but it will. Just continue to have all the tools ready.

Adding to this is the fact that more than half the countries do not formally recognize crypto, let alone set up definite policies for the same. Imho, though this remains a blocker, it very much is a creative opportunity to bring clarity and sense into what exactly is possible with the value store that crypto is and the much bigger technology that blockchain is.
